Quick Meals For People On The Go!

I bought these quick "Thai meals" on pouches when I went to TESCO Lotus at Chantaburi Thailand last July.  I was actually hesitant to buy some at first since I'm not so sure if I would appreciate the taste.  Thai dishes are spicy and flavorful.  A lot of Filipinos working in Cambodia and Thailand are having difficulty eating spicy foods as people here loves to eat everything that's cooked with chili. For me, it's not much of a problem.  The truth is, even before I come to Cambodia, I used to eat spicy foods already back home.  My Mom is a "Bicolana" and I grew up eating spicy dishes that my Mom used to prepare at home.  In fact, the locals here are quite amazed that I can eat spicy foods.  According to them, a lot of Filipinos that they knew cannot eat spicy foods.

In fairness, Thai dishes are yummy and I don't have much problem with their foods.  In fact, compared to Vietnam, Thailand's food  products are much similar to ours.  The last time I shop at TESCO Lotus, I saw a lot of goods in the food section that are similar to what are being sold in our super markets.  They also have chicharon, danggit, dried squid, shrimp paste (bagoong), siomai, spring rolls, "dilis" and a lot more.  I bought some quick meals in pouches, as shown above not only because I want to try their dishes but also because I can have these foods instantly whenever I don't have time to cook.  So far, I have finished all already.  True to what I expect, these dishes are really spicy and not all Filipinos can take it.  But, the taste is good.  It only costs THB20 per pouch which is equivalent to around PHP30.  Not bad, huh?

Of course nothing can beat the taste of a freshly cooked meal and I would still prefer the latter over the quick meals in pouches readily sold at the Super Markets, but to have a few in stock would save you time when you really need to go quickly to work and haven't eaten anything yet.   So, I decided that I would still get a few  the next time I go for grocery shopping.

How about you? What sort of "quick meals" do you keep at home?

In Our Weakness Lies Our Strenght!

Does anybody from you ever felt down and out?
Did you ever asked yourself why you are not as good as others?  Did you ever experienced self pity realizing what your weaknesses are? Well, I do! I guess everyone does, at one point in their lives.  But do you know that sometimes, realizing our own weaknesses can help us improve ourselves? By nature, people loves to find mistakes in others.  Maybe because this is the easiest way to prove that they are far better than the rest.  But if we let others to make use of our weaknesses as a weapon to destroy ourselves, then we are already defeated even before the start of the battle.
"Weakness" is just a piece of reminder that we are only humans.  We are not perfect!  Nobody is, anyway. But sometimes, our own weaknesses can open the door for us to greater opportunities and challenges.  You might be surprised that even the most humble servant can be a blessing to others in his own special way.  This afternoon, after I get off from work, I was able to read an inspiring story from "unknown author". I feel blessed that I happened to read this inspiring story which I would like to share with you, as well. It inspires me and I think it's a better way to start my week right.  :)
Please read on........
A Story Of The Cracked Pot
(Author Unknown)
A water bearer in India had two large pots, each hung on the end of a pole which he carried across his neck. One of the pots was perfectly made and never leaked. The other pot had a crack in it and by the time the water bearer reached his master's house it had leaked much of it's water and was only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pots full of water to his master's house. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do.

After two years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to the water bearer one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, and I want to apologize to you." "Why?" asked the bearer. "What are you ashamed of?" "I have been able, for these past two years, to deliver only half my load because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your master's house. Because of my flaws, you have to do all of this work, and you don't get full value from your efforts," the pot said.

The water bearer felt sorry for the old cracked pot, and in his compassion he said, "As we return to the master's house, I want you to notice the beautiful flowers along the path."
Indeed, as they went up the hill, the old cracked pot took notice of the sun warming the beautiful wild flowers on the side of the path, and this cheered it some. But at the end of the trail, it still felt bad because it had leaked out half its load, and so again the pot apologized to the bearer for its failure.

The bearer said to the pot, "Did you notice that there were flowers only on your side of your path, but not on the other pot's side? That's because I have always known about your flaw, and I took advantage of it. I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back from the stream, you've watered them. For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate my master's table. Without you being just the way you are, he would not have this beauty to grace his house."

Each of us has our own unique set of weaknesses. We're all cracked pots. But if we allow things to happen by faith, God will use our own set of weaknesses to be a blessing to others. In God's eyes, nothing and nobody is useless. Don't be afraid of your flaws. Acknowledge them, and you too can be the cause of happiness to others. Know that in our weakness lies our strength.

Body Essentials

If you are frequenting my blogs, then you should know that I am a person who loves to go for massage, especially the deep tissue massage.  For someone like me, who is both busy at work, day and night, a relaxing and soothing body massage works best for me.  I used to get a Thai massage regularly once or twice a month, depending on my schedule, and it always gives me a feeling of renewed skin and muscles.  The only problem with Thai massage is that it is a dry massage as masseur usually focuses on body stretching in some yoga positions.  I am thinking of getting an oil massage at times alternating it with the usual Thai massage that I used to get on a regular basis.  For this, I would be needing some essential oils that would work best for my skin.  I found some great variants of massage oils from EdenFantasys.  I especially like the Donna massage Oil which has fruity and citrus scent.  How would you like to get a relaxing body massage that leaves you feeling good with a skin that's feeling smooth and fresh, as well?  Aside from that, it leaves you with a sweet scent that's fully satisfying.

This massage oil is only one of the many body and beauty products that Edenfantasys has to offer.  I would love to try the different massage oil variants.  Not only that, they also have these body massagers which could also be good should you choose to just have your ow massage at home.

EdenFantasys also offers great discounts so it's worth to pay a visit to their site from time to time to grab those promos.  In that way, you would be able to get real good products at a very affordable price.

Personally, I wouldn't neglect caring for my personal health and wellness no matter how busy I am.  Feeling good is what makes us motivated to work, earn a living and interact with our family.  It is but necessary to pamper ourselves from time to time and it definitely gives long lasting results.

How about you, wouldn't you love to pamper yourselves, too?

Being Thankful During The Difficult Times

Yesterday, Olongapo City, which is my home town was greatly affected by the heavy rains and flooding.  I was told by the kids that at around 3 PM, all the streets were flooded until the waist line and maybe in some low lying areas, flood level is even more than that.  I was very nervous and I worried a lot after I got the text message from my son informing me of the flood situation.  The subdivision where we stay is also a low lying area and it used to be the area which easily gets flooded during the onset of typhoons until things were changed when the drainage system there was improved.  We were staying there for about 8 years already since that house was built and we never experienced floods so far.  When we built that house, I purposely asked the construction team to make our house elevated far higher than the street level.  I also did the same for the whole yard.

However, yesterday's massive flood situation in the city had caused lots of houses affected.  My son even told me that the water already entered the front portion of the garage and first level step of the terrace.  I already asked them to secure our important documents and some valuables in plastic sealed containers and asked them to monitor the flood situation from time to time.  I was working on night shift, but I can't sleep tight as I always think of the family way back home. I worried about them because me and my husband are both away from the house and  kids are just with my Mom and a house helper.  I can't help but worry.

After an hour, the situation has improved.  Rain stopped and the flood water subsides little by little.  Our whole yard was totally flood free and the best thing was that our house was not affected at all and my family was safe.  Some of our neighbors had moved out their things from the house already as water already entered their houses.

I can't help but to be thankful during these difficult times that my family remains to be safe.  That afternoon, after they sent me the text message,  I prayed for the situation to improve and that the people in our town and in the whole country will be freed from danger.  It's easy to be thankful during great times in our lives but not during the difficult times but our faith will always push us to be thankful during difficult times.

Am happy that the people in our country had passed another difficult stage and hoping that future situations will be more manageable in God's will.

Do I Deserve This?

Just the other day, I was texting with my son asking for their scheduled school break comes October.  I remember that they have about 2 weeks break in school few days before the Halloween and All Souls Day.  I applied for my home leave in October in anticipation for my kids short vacation in school so I could spend more quality time with them.  I am also planning this early for our holiday vacation in Thailand in time for the school break.  My kids are pretty much excited about the trip and they are giving me suggestions on what they want to do during our visit to Thailand.  As early as now, I am beginning to write our trip itinerary so I could have that assurance that we'll be able to maximize our stay at Bangkok.

At first, I was having second thoughts going for this vacation as my pocket has been greatly wounded (lol) recently due to my huge expenses in renovating the apartment. Aside from this, I am expecting another expenses during my home leave as I am looking into paying off my balance for a lot.  My son even asked me, "Are you sure Mom?  That you want to bring us for a holiday in Thailand?"  I was having second thoughts then, but after careful thinking, I get convinced that I have to go for that vacation with them due to the following reasons:
  • Since I've started with this new company last March after I've decided to resign from my previous company, I really never treat myself for a little pampering except for my regular Thai massage sessions during my days off.  I was staying in a province in Cambodia and there's not much place to go here for relaxation so I was just in a working mode since March up to the present.
  • I have a difficult Boss.  A person having high standards and super duper perfectionist who loves to give pressure to the employees.  Because of this, I was in a struggle adjusting to his work style for months now.
  • I spend most of the times here working....working....working.
  • I think I am working hard enough for the past months earning from both my regular job and online tasks.
  • I have done quite well accomplishing a number of projects at home during the first two quarters of this year.
  • I won't be home for Christmas so I might as well spend my home leave to the max.
Having had all these, don't you think that I deserve a break? A pleasant and relaxing vacation in the Philippines with my family and a shopping spree at Bangkok with the kids?

Oh well....I have to give myself a consolation at times and reward myself for having worked hard all these years.  After all, I provide well for the family, and my kids and Mom could very well attest to that.

So, Am I able to convince you, too? (lol)
