Top Three Countries to Visit in South America

South America is a huge continent that has a lot to offer travelers. There are cities with all the amenities, backwater jungle towns that are surrounded by adventure, beach resorts that pamper guests and mountain villages that abound with climbing opportunities. No matter what kind of vacation a traveler is looking for, they will find something special in South America. Here are the top three countries to go on vacation in South America.
Colombia

Even just a decade ago, it would have been hard to imagine Colombia occupying the top spot on this list. Until that point in time, it was wracked by drug violence, and kidnappings of foreigners were common. Those days are behind the country now, and visitors will love to spend some time in this beautiful land. There are many beautiful cities to see in Colombia, but Bogota is not one of them. Get out of the capital as soon as possible.
Instead, head to the city of eternal spring, Medellin. It is full of warm and friendly people that love to find any excuse for a party. Colombians in general love to have a good time, and they are extremely friendly to visitors. Another beautiful city in Colombia is the Cartagena, located on the Caribbean coast. It is a full of colonial architecture that will delight the eye, and the food is amazing.
Try to make your way over to Parque Tayrona, which is on the very northwestern corner of Colombia’s Caribbean Coast. It is perhaps the most beautiful spot in the country, offering miles of secluded beaches and beautiful jungle to explore.
Brazil
The Brazilian people are among the friendliest on Earth. If you are in the mood to party, then you need to make a trip to Brazil. The beautiful people and fantastic beaches will delight the eye, and the warm weather and delicious food will satisfy the body. Make sure to send some time at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, which many experts consider to be the best beach in the world.
If you can plan your trip to Brazil during Carnival, then you should. This is the biggest Carnival celebration in the world. Enjoying the non-stop partying and samba parades that occur during Carnival will leave visitors throughout exhausted but completely satisfied.
Also, don’t leave Brazil without going to see Iguazu Falls in Iguazu National Park. The falls are 268 feet high, and their power has cut a canyon that reaches 1.67 miles across. Witnessing the impressive power of the falls is one of the most magnificent things to see in South America.
If there is one country that has a little bit of everything to offer visitors in South America, it is Peru. Visitors can enjoy exploring the vast jungles of the Amazon. One of the best ways to experience them is on a boat trip from Iquitos up the Amazon River. It takes a week to make the round trip, and it is one of the most amazing voyages in the world.
Peru
The Pacific Coast of Peru has a lot of offer as well. The waters in northern Peru are tropical, and there is great surfing to be found up and down the coast. There is also lots of amazing seafood to enjoy along the way, including the best cebiche in the world.
Of course, no trip to Peru would be complete without a visit to Machu Picchu. The site of these magical ruins is one of the most desirable travel destinations in the world. Seeing the sunrise over Machu Picchu is the most magical moment of any trip to South America.

Staff Party

Our company had just sponsored a grand staff party last  January 16. I was on duty that time and wasn't able to witness the party though. But I heard that there are lots of foods and drinks and that lots of exciting prizes await the lucky draw winners. They put up a big stage near to our housing unit.  There were songs and dances and I could hear the loudness of the sound until inside my bedroom. I wonder if the party organizers made use of classic presonus mixers. Too bad that I have to jump to morning shift the following day and falling asleep is very hard with the strong sound system playing disco music late at night until wee hours in the morning. We didn't join the party actually as we will be having a separate party for our department probably by next month.  I hope that it would turn out to be a nice celebration and I hope that I would be on morning shift as well, so I could attend and enjoy the party and fun. We need it once in a while to relax and unwind as we are working here most of the time.

Lucio's Latest Pic

I had a good laugh after seeing this cute picture of our baby Lucio. This is actually his latest pic taken last Christmas.  When I left home last November, he still doesn't have much fur as he was sent to pet grooming salon by the kids and have his fur trimmed.  Well, after two months, since the last time I saw him at home, he really looks so different now.  His fur had grown so fast.  Back to it's original lenght and thickness.  He looks so adorable, as ever! (lol)

I think his shirt in this pic was from me.  I bought this last November at Bangkok when I was with the kids.  Glad that it fits him well.

Happy New Year Lucio! May you continue to bring cheers to the family! :)

My Goals For 2013

I used to write down my goals for each year, usually during the first month of the year to remind me of what my priorities are but I don't really put too much pressure on myself.  I want it to be a "win-win" situation wherein I could draw some inspiration from my set goals and I could challenge myself to be better each year.   I don't actually push myself too hard in achieving my goals, I take it one step at a time.  If by the end of the year and most of the items listed were marked as "done", then I could talk to myself and say, "Hey you've done a good job".  From there, I would choose a reward for myself.  Funny, isn't it?  But seriously, I find this effective as I normally end up achieving 80 to 90 per cent of my goals each year. :)

Okay enough of those stuff, let's get down to facts, my goals for this year are :

1.)  Totally get out of liabilities and concentrate more on building my assets.  With this said, I have to make sure that all the things that I need to pay off this year will all be settled and that includes my property taxes.  My gosh, when my second house was built, I asked somebody to process the tax declaration papers for me and it was done actually.  Unfortunately, I overlooked on that since I was working abroad and I really never had time to examine everything when I get back home for vacation.  So we religiously pay all our lots taxes but not the building.  We only realized it this year when we were about to pay the lot taxes again for 2012. I hope that  I could settle all within this year together with my balance for another lot. By the end of 2013, I should be totally free from all the liabilities. (fingers crossed)

2.)  I wish to have a small business for this year.  Something that would keep me busy if one day I decided to stop working.  I already have several plans but I've always been a careful planner.  I have this habit of weighing things carefully before I go in which I think is good for me.  Also, I would like to start small then progress to something bigger when things go into my favor.  I hate to take risks.

3.)  I wish to have our garage covered with concrete roofing.  At least to get it ready for the upcoming house expansion.  We are looking into building another room but maybe not this year yet.  But who knows? :)

4.)  A vacation well spent with the whole family, well...not necessarily out of the country as me and my husband are already always out of the country most of the time due to work. Something simple but memorable weekend get away perhaps.  If I could bring my kids for another out of the country trip this year, then that would just be a bonus, but I'm not listing it down as one of my priorities for this year. (lol) Sorry kids.

5.)  I'm planning to hold a joint birthday celebration for me and my son but I would probably be doing it on December and that would be a unique celebration ever as I am looking at celebrating it on a different way. :)

6.)  I would seriously look at improving myself in the kitchen, so I am expecting myself to cook and bake more this year.

7.)  I would like to beat my last year's earnings from my blogs.  I know that by saying this, I am giving pressure to myself already but I should strive to get better each year, right?

8.)  To move on with my life and letting go of all the heart aches and pains that I experienced for the past years. To do what must be done and to only keep the positive things and thoughts in mind and get away from all sort of negativity's that could ruin my passion for life.

9.)  I want to have a mini "herb garden" at home and would probably start collecting bonsai's. Gosh, this has been a long plan that never materialized.. Hope my family could support me in my "simple wish".  (kids, are you listening?)

10.) To start crafting which is one of my love and passion but due to a limited time, I always fail on this and it always gets forwarded to my new set of goals for the following year (hehe).

11.) To be more conscious about my health and this means having preference on eating healthy foods and going for regular check ups.  Learn yoga and other simple exercises.

12.) To have a substantial amount of savings.  I always do this each year, but I have to be better this year.

Whether I achieve these things or not, what is important is that I have set my goals which I can look forward to this year that could motivate myself to strive harder in my work and in improving myself on every aspect of my life.

This will keep me going!
Wish me luck!

Post Party Updates

My daughter had just celebrated her birthday last January 4, a day after she was discharged from the hospital.  We are thankful that despite the unexpected sickness that she got days before the new year, she was still able to celebrate her birthday at home with a small party attended by her close friends.  It so happened that our house helper also celebrates her birthday on the same day, thus my son asked her to just invite her children to come over and join the simple celebration of Mika.  Needless to say, the simple party turned out to be a good one.  Everybody enjoyed the scrumptious foods prepared by my son and Ate Elsa.  They had a BBQ party and it was done outdoors.  I just thought that it would be nice if we could have some patio cushions in place at our terrace so that the visitors will feel more comfortable and at ease.  Anyway, they also had fun grilling their own meats and hot dogs in the garden.

After the dinner and never ending chit chats, they watched DVD movies in the living room and decided to call it a night by 10 PM.  I am glad that despite her untimely illness, my daughter was still able to enjoy and celebrate her birthday.  My worries were lessened and I felt very thankful that we were able to let this difficulty passed off and accept things the way they are.

Welcoming A Brand New Year!

Happy New Year to All!

I could not exactly say that my new year started with a positive note as days before New Year, my daughter was suffering from fever which was ongoing for several days.  Few hours before the New Year's eve, we decided to have her confined in a hospital for her to be properly monitored as her platelet count was continuously dropping.  As this is a very risky situation, we don't have any other recourse but to have her admitted in the hospital to monitor her progress. The end result? They welcome the new year and have their "media noche" right on my daughter's room in the hospital.  Not really a good start for a brand new year but as I promised myself to get away with negative thoughts and try to be more optimistic this year, I tried to get away with sad thoughts and convinced myself that this 2013 will still be a better year for me.

I just try to think that we had already passed off a difficult stage beginning of the year, so we will just be awaiting for the beautiful things that are bound to happen to us this year.  I know that God always strikes a balance in our lives.  He may not give us all the glories in life one hundred per cent, but He will surely not let us down endlessly.  As what the saying goes, "After the rain, will come the sun".  I believe in this and I would  like to embrace all the positive thoughts this year.

We are just starting with the year and I have high hopes that this year will bring a lot of good things in my life career wise,  as well as emotionally, spiritually, physically, socially and financially.  I believe that this year would be a great year for me and  will continually believe it that way.

I have lots of plans for this year.... new projects, new worthwhile activities, new hobbies and new learning experiences which I would be writing on a separate post.

To end this post, I would just like to leave you with a positive quote,

"No matter what you're going through, there's a light at the end of the tunnel and it may seem hard to get to it but you can do it and just keep working towards it and you'll find the positive side of things."     By : Demi Lovato
