My Very Special Pet

We are a family who loves dogs.  It was a long journey before I finally agreed to have a shih-tzu pet inside the house.  My kids knew for a fact that I love to stay in a clean, neat and organized home and at first, I was thinking that this is not possible to achieve having a pet dog inside the house.  They promised to look after him and that they won't let the house gets messy because of him, but still I was reluctant.  My daughter was begging to have one actually.  This was her dream.  Because I love her, I finally agreed on one condition.... that she will keep the promise of not letting the house becomes messy.

Those were the days, now this shih-tzu became my own baby.  I love him a lot and I am personally taking care of him.  I couldn't explain everything he does for me in this post but one thing is for sure, I adore him and he is my stress reliever.  There are numerous times that I have proven this to myself. I am very easy to get annoyed and irritated but every time I see him staring at me as if telling me to cheer up, I would instantly go back to my cheerful state and would later find out that I am already playing with him.

This doll gives me company when I'm alone in the house and entertains me with all his sweet little gestures.  Pets are gifts from above.  I believe they were created by God to let us feel unconditional love.

I remember my daughter always telling me... "Mom, you can always buy a dog but you can never buy the wag of it's tail".

What's New This Christmas?

We celebrate Christmas almost the same way every year. Exchanging of gifts on Christmas Eve, eating a simple and yet special dishes that we prepare for our Noche Buena, attending mass, receiving relatives at home, giving cash gift to kids and of course, watching movie right on Christmas Day followed by a simple dinner in a restaurant of our choice.  This has been a routine every year. However this time around, there is something new and that is celebrating the holidays with hubby. He wasn't home at Christmas every year because of his job overseas and this is the only time that we are able to be with him on most occasions including our wedding anniversary which happens to be on December as well.

Excited as he was, he was very busy preparing his gifts for the traditional exchange gifts at home and it was really fun especially when we revealed to him hat he needs to buy some gifts for our pets.

He also prepared a simple dinner all by himself.  He doesn't want us to assist him actually, he said it would be his pleasure to do this for us.

Overall, it was really fun to have him around.  My daughter Mika was laughing non stop.  Too sad that our son Edmar wasn't able to celebrate with us as he is currently out of the country but we are all looking forward to see him in flesh very soon.

Aside from the fact that we are very happy with all our construction projects going on right now for the home improvement, what makes us happier is the fact that we had the opportunity to celebrate Christmas with him. Such is in itself...a gift.

Merry Christmas!

Neighborhood Noise

Dealing with noise in the neighborhood seems to be alarming especially for people like me who works at home.  Aside from occasional writing tasks, I also have online classes at night and it is during this time of the day that neighbors are having parties at home, thus the noise.  Just the other day, one of the neighbors had their office Christmas party held at their house and as expected, they use a sound system with all those speakers and amplifiers.  Aside from that, they hired a party host who uses shotgun mics and as a result, the entire neighborhood is super noisy.  I'm having online classes at that time and I canceled all my classes as I find it to be not conducive to learning.  As a result, I lost my income for that day.

Well, I couldn't do anything but to bear with the situation.  I am not sure whether there is a law that prohibits company parties to be held at residential areas so I just have to live with it.  It seems that my neighbors love to hold parties at home.  I remembered the same neighbor to have held her daughter's debut party at home too.  Well, I didn't give them the same problem as my daughter's 18th birthday party was held in a hotel.  That was my personal choice though and we couldn't expect everyone to do the same.  Nonetheless, dealing with neighborhood noise is a common problem now a days, I remembered seeing a post on FB of one person complaining about the excessive use of videoke in their neighborhood almost everyday.  Luckily that I don't have to face the same problem daily. Hopefully, these issues can be resolved amicably to avoid further complications.

Have you experienced the same too?

Shirts For Marcus

I just recently purchased a new portable sewing machine and I intend to use it for my craft projects. My daughter Mika also long wanted for me to buy one as she is another person who loves crafts. Blame it to the genes! :)

My first project were shirts for our furry baby, Marcus.  I am actually new to sewing.  This is one thing that I dream to be good at but since I am so busy working over the years, this was just put aside. Now, that I finally stopped working, I think it is high time for me to start doing what I love to do, so the sudden impulse to buy a sewing machine happened this month of November.

Here are the new shirts I've sewn for my baby Marcus:

And here is my model (lol):

I am planning to saw few pieces more and that includes his shirt for Christmas. Also, I bought  burlap material for some arts and crafts projects at home.

Wish me luck!

October 2015 Summing Up

The month of October has ended up really quite well.  There was no major event but every occasion was celebrated in the simplest manner possible.  We commemorated the first death anniversary of my brother and mother who passed away last year.  There was no grand reunion, just a simple mass offered for their souls, sincere prayers and just a simple dinner.  My daughter Mika and I went to the Memorial Park to visit their tomb, offered prayers and flowers and lighted up some candles.  A simple dinner in a restaurant followed afterwards.

Four days after Mom's first death anniversary, my first born Edmar celebrated his birthday in China for the the very first time.  This was his first time to celebrate away from home but I'm so glad that he had a nice celebration with his new found friends at work.  They had an "ëat all you can" dinner at one of their favorite restos and he was surprised by his friends with a birthday cake.  I guess, he really had fun that night.

A week after my son's birthday, their Boss announced the creation of 2 new managerial positions for the company and encouraged those who think that they are qualified for the positions to apply.  My son sought my advise and I said, yes you have to try, you have to believe in yourself and in your capabilities.  So he did submit his application for the Planning and Development manager position. Guess what? After few days he received a message from the Boss and he was asked to conceptualize a halloween celebration at one of their affiliated schools.  It turned out that this task which was assigned to him would be a strong basis for the confirmation of his promotion.  He had a nice concept and the management like it, however, they want to see how best he could execute the concept submitted.  Well, the event turned out to be a huge success, in fact it was televised in China.

Back home, we did not go out on the day of the Halloween as we are busy preparing for All Saint's Day.  My daughter Mika went to Memorial Park to clean and paint the gravestone of Mom and Dad. On the same day, I went to the market to buy some fresh flowers and food items to brought to the memorial Park the following day.

Our month of October ended up well and with high hopes that everything will turn out good for the days to come as we anticipate brighter and bigger things to happen in November.

Preparing For A Stress Free Holiday

We are already on the last week of October and probably before we knew it, we are already celebrating the holiday season.  But there's one thing that we ought to do if we want to ensure a stress free holiday and that is plan....plan....plan.  Yes, there's no better way to celebrate the holidays but to have proper planning and of course, a ton of preparations.  Stress always comes to us when we rush on things and this is exactly what I hate.  I hate cramming even when I was still a student. More often than not, it always leads to unsuccessful events, if not disaster.  So how do I prepare for a stress free holidays?  Here are the ways:
  1. Beginning of this year, I've already started to set aside new bills that I've received as change from supermarkets and shops.  Next, I've already bought some red packets and put specific amount for each envelope to be given to those boys and girls (my relatives) who constantly visit me and the family during Christmas day.  This way, I wouldn't feel the "pain" in my pocket come Christmas Day. :)
  2. I do visit my favorite online shops every now and then and started to browse on their gift items on sale which could be the probable gifts to my son, daughter and hubby during our traditional exchange of gifts on Christmas eve.  The items I choose were placed on my "wish list" under my online account.  Then, I would do another round of browsing during one of my free time and after I finalized my decision on what I really want to give, then I will start to order these items one at a time.  This saved me a lot of time and I could very well plan my budget for each gift.
  3. I'm starting to add more materials on my "craft box" which I would be using to wrap my gifts. Wrappers, boxes and ribbons of various colors and sizes are beginning to fill my box.
  4. For extended family members, I plan to give some personalized home made goodies direct from my kitchen and as early as this month, I've started to try new recipes and collect the required ingredients little by little.  I've also started to prepare the boxes/containers for these home made goodies which I plan to adorn with cute ribbons and personalized messages.
  5. I'm not really into buying personal stuff for myself like clothes, shoes and fashion accessories as I think that I had enough of these things in my closet. Besides, hubby used to bring back some personal stuff for me as "pasalubong", so I guess, that would already be good for me.
  6. I bought a cute sewing machine which I plan to use for my arts and crafts projects and most of the initial projects would be something to decorate the house for the holiday season.
  7. This month also, I've encouraged my daughter to help me do the "clean up operation" around the house and at the yard.  We've already repainted some garden accessories and hired someone to trim all the plants and get rid of the grasses.
  8. I've already talked to our carpenter and handyman for the possible projects that we are planning to do starting next month, asked for the list of materials and started to canvass the prices so I could start preparing the budget.
  9. I've already set aside some amount in the envelope for Christmas carolers (adult and kids) and also for the community garbage collectors.
So far, that's all for the meantime but I maybe adding some more on this list.  If you notice, all the preparations I've made will spare me from spending "one time big time" during the holidays and it won't make me feel the pain in my pocket.

Working In A Suburb

The last company that I've worked with at Cambodia gave me a lot of reasons to celebrate and lose my sanity.  I was assigned to work at the company branch located in the outskirts of Cambodia.  I was clueless actually as to what the place looks like or what is in store for me there.  I applied in that company because of it's good name and reputation in the gaming industry, that's all I can remember. When I get into the place, I was shocked to know that it's actually a suburb and mind you, I could not even find a decent bread elsewhere, what more if I want to find computer and gadget shops.  It was a nightmare but I've learned to get used to the place later on.  As a matter of fact, I've worked there for nearly two years.

I've learned my lessons though when I got a bad experience when I discovered one day that my laptop cannot be opened.  I kept on pressing the "power on" button but to no avail.  I am  not sure whether it's the laptop's motherboard or battery that's giving me the problem.  Since I was staying in a suburb, I have to wait for my scheduled day off from work so I could go to a nearby city where there are computer shops.  Imagine the hassle that I had experienced during that period of time where I have lost some of my writing gigs because of that battery problem.  Should I known earlier that batteries for dell laptops at LaptopBatteryexpress.com can be ordered online and shipped wherever you are, probably I could have saved a lot of money and prevent all the hassles waiting for my day off and travel quite a long distance just to get new batteries for my DELL laptop.

Ordering any model of batteries can be done in just a click of finger and ships free for 3 to 7 days delivery.  That will surely save all the trouble and prevents you from losing some important tasks online which could also translate to a loss of income.  I think I just have to be smarter next time. Internet is everybody's best friend, I should have just used my tablet to place my order online and voila...problem solved.  The best part is you could be assured of quality laptop batteries that could work longer and last longer.

Dinner "Ala Korean"

Since the time I was introduced by my son to Korean foods, I have developed a great love for Korean dishes.  I love raw veggies and spicy sauces so you will feast on these side dishes when you dine in and order for a "shabu-shabu" type of meal at a Korean resto.

You will grill the meats by yourself and you will have a great deal of time talking and catching up with your family members while feasting on these foods.  My son who had a lot of Korean friends obviously enjoy this type of foods.  I usually rely on him in choosing what kind of meat we have to order that will go best with all those side dishes.

Since it was quite pricey to dine at a Korean resto, I thought of having it at home.  I just bought the meat which is similar to what was served to us and I've prepared all the raw veggies to go with it. However, there are certain sauces which I cannot prepare at home since I do not really explore yet the different Korean spices.  I don't even know yet how to make my own "kimchi", so the one we have prepared at home is not really perfect but the same fun was experienced as we get to grill the meats by ourselves while on the dinner table.  I used to copy the dishes that we've tried on some restos that we've been and try to cook these at home.  Eating outside is fun but not friendly on the budget so sometimes, we have to find ways to explore and enjoy the same kind of foods without hurting our pockets. :)

For Your Teens

I couldn't imagine how lucky teens are now a days.  The advent of technology has certainly made life a lot easier for them.  Gadgets are being manufactured and developed here and there, and all have the same promise, and that is making life easier and automated.  Aside from that, teens now a days, are very entertained with these new gadgets.  They can watch latest movies online, play computer games, use Apps and play music just wherever and whenever they want just like this jbl micro ii which is built for the long haul.

There is certainly a big difference using the conventional transistor radio before and the so called ipod and MP3 now a days. Even when you are doing an exercise or doing a morning walk, you could still afford to listen to your favorite music as these gadgets are so mobile and handy. I for one has benefited a lot from the advancement in technology but I still miss those days where the form of entertainment is just so plain and simple, and best of all...free. :)

Now, I could see that you really have to work too hard to afford buying these gadgets for your kids especially that they never get contented unless they get the latest model.  This, I think is the only downside of all these modernization.  Kids are being slaves of consumerism even at an early age.  As a parent, it is indeed very important to strike a balance and guide our children so they would understand that advancement and technology has it's own pros and cons.

Choosing The Best Commercial Contractors

If you are going to be doing some renovations to a commercial structure, you need to make sure that you hire a skilled commercial contractor to do the job right. With so many contractors out there, how do you sift through all of them to find the right one for your job? While finding a great contractor is easier said than done, it is not impossible. It will just require some research and patience on your part. If you are willing to put in the time required to find a good contractor, you will have your job done right the first time. Here is how to hire a commercial contractor.

Ask other companies that have recently used a contractor

If there are any other companies in your area that have recently performed a renovation project to one of their properties, approach them and find out who the contractor was. While you are at it, ask them why they decided to hire that specific contractor in the first place. Were there any problems with the project? Did the contractor need to come back and fix anything later? How much did the contractor charge for their services? Are they satisfied with the overall quality of the contractor's work? The answers that the company rep gives to these questions will provide you with some valuable insight into whether or not you should hire that particular contractor. If you want to get a quote today for a commercial contractor, Renovation Experts can help you.
Visit them at http://renovationexperts.com/commercial/.

Read reviews of commercial contractors online

The Internet is chock full of reviews for just about everything. Reviews of contractors are readily available for your perusal. These reviews can be found on review sites that specifically focus on the construction industry. They are written by people who have hired the contractors in the past. They will be very detailed and honest assessments of the contractor's ability and professionalism. The reviews will point out all of the positive and negative aspects of the contractor, helping the reader make a determination to hire the contractor or pass them by.

Contractor websites

If you want to find out how much experience a commercial contractor has, as well as what their specialties are, you should visit their websites. Contractors always have websites to promote their services. They are good places to go if you are on the fence about hiring a certain contractor.

Simple Ways To Enjoy Life More

Enjoying life need not be expensive, there are lots of things or activities which we could enjoy for just a minimal amount or even for free.  Here are some:

Do Gardening

Gardening is something that you could really enjoy especially if you are a person who loves plants and flowers.  Better yet, if you love to eat vegetables, you may also try vegetable gardening.  It's really therapeutic and a great stress reliever.  Seeing your flowering plants bloom or vegetables garden produce even a little amount of veggies is really rewarding.

Keep a Gratitude Journal

It's always nice to keep track of good things that happen to you each day and show some gratitude for all these wonderful things that you are grateful for.  No matter how bad your day is, you could always find something that you should be thankful for.  Keeping a list of these things and reviewing them at the end of each week will help you feel more positive and blessed throughout the coming weeks.

Read A Book

Reading a good book will always give you a certain kind of joy.  Not only it is very entertaining, it is also one way of exploring your world and getting new knowledge that you could apply in your life. Even reading a good novel will also allow you to separate yourself from the world for a time being and learn valuable lessons from all those wonderful stories.

Take A Walk

Walking is not only a good form of exercise, it also allows you to appreciate your environment and nature.  Focusing on a beautiful tree, plant, flower or animal while you walk will somehow ease your anxiety.  It is a great way to relax and get rid of stress or negativity.

 Play With Your Pets

There's nothing more relaxing than playing with your loyal friends. You would certainly feel comfortable and happy being surrounded by cute and active pets.

Do Some Yoga Exercises

Nothing is more relaxing than having some stretches.  Yoga is a very good way to relax those muscles.  Oftentimes, we got so stressed and burn out doing our daily activities at home and it's always best to get rid of those back pains by doing some yoga. There are lots of free yoga exercises that you can download from the internet and you can even do this with your children or spouse.

Listen To  A Good Music

Listening to a good music has always been relaxing.  In fact, playing music while cleaning the house, cooking or doing any other household chores will give you extra energy and put you on a happy mood.  If you know how to play guitar, that would be good too.  You don't have to be a guitar expert nor you need more sophisticated guitar accessories like humbucking.  Just play a simple tune that you know and sing to your heart's content and that's enough to relax for the rest of the day.

Have An Afternoon Tea or Coffee

After that hectic day, don't forget to go for an afternoon tea or coffee.  Smelling the aroma of your flavorful tea or coffee while sitting by the porch is truly relaxing.  You could spend it with a friend or any of your family members while having a good talk.

They always say...the best things in life are free.  :)

Combining Two Passions In One

These are the personalized cup cakes we've baked last month.  I use these cup cakes as prizes for the activities that I have prepared for the seminar that I've facilitated to some employees of the company who hired my services.  I was glad that they were happy with the personalized prizes.  Actually, coming up with this is really time consuming especially that there are also materials that I need to prepare for the seminar.

I want to give them something unique though and with the intention of integrating the topics that we've discussed during the seminar.  So I thought that personally baked chocolate cup cakes with quotes on team building and work values will be a good idea since we're baking cup cakes for a business anyway.  Combining my passions in baking and facilitating seminars is really rewarding as I could explore my creativity and at the same time, motivate and inspire people by sharing to them my personal work and life experiences.

For me that's absolute happiness! :)

Crafts And Styles

We just recently launched our new business and just like the other one (cup cakes) that we've started over a year ago, this came out as a result of a passion for designing. Our event styling business which we named Crafts and Styles is our newest baby  One thing good about this business is that we don't really feel like working as doing craft projects has already been a passion for the whole family.  I am just so happy that my son and daughter both inherited my love for crafts and decors.  In fact, they are now much into DIY projects especially on their own respective bedrooms.

Our passion for arts and crafts enabled us to save a lot in styling the recently concluded debut party of my daughter Mika.  Instead of hiring an outside designer, we did it ourselves and the result is very satisfying.  We did not only win the admiration of our visitors but we were able to come up with a unique party theme idea that we conceptualized on our own and the result is so fulfilling!

Projects have been coming one after the other and there are times we need to say no because we are still half hearted whether we need to continue or not.  There are some personal reasons which unfortunately cannot be divulged yet at the moment that's why we are a bit hesitant to accept all possible projects coming in.

The last party we've styled was a big success basing from the feedback we've received from our client.  Aside from the complete set up and decors of the venue, we also provided the entertainment part as we brought along a clown who has provided hosting and a little magic show.  A complete sound system was also set up to the delight of the visitors.  I guess, we should start completing our equipment and to order one must be the first option.  A good sound system for a party is a must and we have to rely on the companies selling the best musical instruments and sound system.

It's always a pleasure to do something that you love and also earn on the process, this way you are not only productive but super productive plus the fun and fulfillment that you are experiencing each time you complete a successful event is worth remembering. :)

The Many Joys of Having Pets At Home

If you are a pet lover, then I'm pretty sure that just like me, you've already discovered the many benefits of being a pet owner.  Actually, my love for dogs happened as a result of an influence from my kids who are certified dog lovers, and because they are my kids and I love them, I adjusted myself to a life of having pets at home.  In our home, the number of dogs outshined the humans.  Currently, we are only three at home as hubby currently stays overseas due to his work and we have now a total of 5 dogs including a new born puppy.

The sight of my dog with his body wiggling with happiness every time he sees me always brings smile to my face no matter how difficult a day may seem.  The fact that they give me a company when my kids aren't home is really a big relief. :)

We maybe aware of a number of illnesses that can be brought to us by emotional and mental stress and the fact that pets, dogs in particular are a great stress reliever can already give you a clue that having pets at home has a health benefit, too.

Not only that, having dogs at home also gives you that sense of security as they are known to be a good "watcher" in the house, just like our shih-tzu'z who are not only adorable but always keep us awake whenever a stranger keeps walking in front of the house anytime of the day.

The list of benefits will definitely go on and on and I am just happy that I've learned to love our pet dogs through the help and influence of my kids and I guess, I will continue to love them more! :)

Mika's Storage Bench

When my daughter Mika asked me if she can have a "little make over" in her bedroom, I rightfully said yes.  Why not?  She's a darling and she just turned 18 and so, I guess she deserved a fresh start.  I could relate to her as I was like that as well when I was about her age.  I always wanted to decorate my bedroom even with just simple and inexpensive things.  I am the youngest in a family of six but I was never a spoiled brat.  I couldn't get what I want in an instant! Having said that, I get easily contented with simple and basic things.  I knew that my Mom would not spend a fortune buying me stuff in my room.

This is precisely the reason why I want it to be different with my only daughter.  If I could afford it and it's not really expensive, I would rather buy things for her especially if I knew that it would serve her well.  When she showed me the design of the storage bench that she would like for her room, I agreed right away.  I find it nice and cute and not only that, it's functional too, so I said, why not?

The storage bench comes with 3 drawers and every size is uniform.  It's equipped with drawer slides which even made these drawers user friendly.  Mika has more rooms now for her stuff.  Not only that, she also requested to have shelves over her corner table and the color combination of everything in her room matches accordingly.

It's really nice to work on the design for your own room and I would always see my daughter surfing online for more unique designs and decors.  I love the fact that she is now deciding for herself and showing a great deal of creativity and love for arts.

I am equally excited to see the final outcome of her room. :)

Our New Buddy

Oh yes, you've heard it right!  We just acquired a new pet at home and we named him Alonzo Nicolo. He is a pure breed Golden Retriever and we've purchased him form a dog breeder in our city. We actually saw the ads on FB and since my son's ultimate dream is to own a Golden Retriever, he persuaded me to buy Alonzo, but of course since this dog is a pure breed, it's also quite expensive so what we have done is to chip in (lol).  Hubby, my son and me chip in to complete the amount needed to purchase this Golden Retriever. On the second thought, I think it's also timely for us to own a large breed of dog since our 3 dogs at home are so cute and small, one being a pure breed shih-tzu, the other a cross breed of Shih-tzu and Japanese Spitz and the last one, a native dog but also half breed.  I must admit, we need a dog who's big and strong to watch over the house, as we find it not so safe now a days as we've been hearing some theft issues in the neighborhood.

I guess, my son was right when he mentioned to me before that Golden Retrievers are so warm and pleasant and they love to get attention every time.  My son's love for a Golden Retriever initially started when he was teaching Korea students in an English Academy. The school owner owns a Golden Retriever and this dog usually visits my son's classroom from the back and usually peeps on the window.

Alonzo is just 3 months old now but he's already big and heavy.  I wonder how would it be when he turns one, maybe he will grow even bigger.  As expected, he's doing all those crazy things at home like all puppies do and I would admit that this sometimes irritates me.  My kids though always remind me that this "playfullness" of Alonzo will soon vanish as he grows older.

Well, I hope that Alonzo will be here to stay as we are beginning to love him despite of his being naughty and playful.

Ohh...dogs are really man's best friend!

Mika's 18 Frames

During her recently concluded debut party, me, my son and the celebrant herself came up with an idea on what would be the 18's in her debut program. Obviously, we do like to get away from the traditional way of holding debut parties...you know the kind of parties which require wearing formal attires for the guest and the traditional 18's like 18 roses, 18 candles and 18 treasures.  We just want something different, something special and something unforgettable.   This is the reason why we came up with requiring the guests to wear white slippers and shorts for the boys and white beach dress for the girls.  Even the invitation was made in such a manner that would create excitement among the guests.  Imagine getting one from a pair of white slipper inside the invitation bag? That's definitely cool!

So what we had instead during her debut were 18 dances, 18 frames and 18 keepsakes.

What most of the guests loved is the 18 frames.  I remembered my nephew and his wife commenting that this 18 frames is really cute and nice and very unique too.  They said that they had never attended a debut party with 18 frames before and this is their first time to learn about this concept.  They even asked me to explain the concept behind it.  Actually this is how it goes....

Mika had chosen 18 from her friends who would be assigned on her 18 frames.  They were requested to submit to my son the digital copy of a photo of Mika with them  which they consider very memorable to them (of course, Mika didn't have any idea about the photo).  Then on the day of the party, her friends will bring the framed printed copy of the photograph they have personally chosen to be given to Mika.

On the night of the party, we had shown an introductory video to her 18 frames, after which, each of the friends who brought the framed photograph were asked to come up on stage and say something about the photo, specifically on why they have chosen the photo to be the most memorable for them.
Thereafter, the framed photo will be handed to Mika and put on display on the stage.

Now Mika will have lots of frames to be hung on her bedroom wall.  Just in time since she just had given her room a make over.

Here are her 18 frames:

Marcus Turns Two!

Our little Marcus just turned two last January 23 and we are indeed very grateful that he's been a part of the family for two years now.  We don't actually treat him like a pet, we treat him like a real member of the family.  He is very sweet, loving and adorable puppy and I am just so happy to spend daily afternoons with him when I'm done with the household chores and just curling myself up in bed watching my favorite TV program.  When I'm in room, he stays in the room...when I'm in the dining area, he stays there with me too.  No doubt he's a great everyday companion!

Because I treat him like my own child, I used to feed him with what suits him best.  he got a snack time with me too, that is why I buy a lot of cookies whenever I do grocery shopping as he loves to eat cookies a lot.

Last January 23, my daughter and I decided to bring Marcus for a walk to make his birthday extra special for him as his typical day would just be inside the house or just a short break around the yard. We could see that he was very amazed to see the so called "outside world"...hehe

We brought him to Boardwalk inside SBMA and this reminds me so much of the old times when my kids were still very in their elementary days.  We used to go there during my day off, just walking around, watching the sea and having snack or dinner in one of the restaurants around the area.  Now, we opted to let Marcus had the same experience.  He runs a lot and never wants us to be out of his sight.

He had a great time running, jumping and walking around Boardwalk.

Afterwards, we had a simple dinner at Gilligans restaurant which is situated few blocks away from Boardwalk.  Of course, Marcus got his own share of the foods (lol) but as usual, he really never get the appetite when he is away from home.

We went home shortly after dinner and we were so happy that we were able to celebrate Marcus second birthday.  We just wish him to stay with us forever...

Few Things I would Like to Do In 2015

There are actually tons of things which I would like to do and accomplish in 2015 but I have chosen to write the more important ones or what I considered as my priorities right now.

Let's go through the list:

1.)  Daily Positive Affirmations - Just recently, I was able to download an audio book of positive affirmations.  It runs for about 10 minutes.  I've just started listening to it and I knew that if it would be a habit to listen to positive affirmations daily before you begin your day, it will do a lot to let you stay energized and positive the whole day.

2.)  Do Yoga More - I've started doing yoga with my daughter Mika late last year but wasn't able to complete the challenge successfully due to time constraint. I am prioritizing the household tasks that's why my yoga activity was taken into back seat.  I think I need to change my sleeping pattern so I could start my day early and do the yoga first thing in the morning.  I also need to have a yoga mat so things would be easier for me.

3.)  Bake More -  I'm already into baking and in fact, we are already doing this as a business.  We had catered to a number  of clients last year and we are able to come up with nice designs for our cup cakes.  Unfortunately, we slow down a bit middle of the year due to a number of reasons and circumstances where we have to shift our priority first.  But it doesn't mean that I've changed my mind.  As a matter of fact, I would like to come back with vengeance (lol).

4.)  Explore My Kitchen More -  Lately, I've been collecting books about pickling, foods in a jar, vegan soups, salads, pastas and other recipes and food preparations which would make my life in the kitchen easier and more exciting.  It would also help me somehow to save on the most important item in my budget list....foods and grocery.

5.)  Do Gardening More  -  Aside from cooking and baking, the next thing that I love to do is to tender the garden.  I have a small pocket garden at home and I get delighted every time I work on it. I love nature so much that I would always love to incorporate an element of nature even in my home decors.  I also would love to have an herb garden, a plan that is always being postponed every year.  Hopefully not this year. :)

6.)  Have additional investments, if possible - I am thinking of having additional investment.  I stopped working early, so I am keen on adding up to my savings to have enough for my retirement years.  Since I don't have fixed income now working from home, I have to find ways to make my money grow.

7.)  Pursue some "little projects" in the house -  Even some people and family members are already saying that I have a nice and well maintained home, we are still planning to push through with some of our plans for home improvement.  Not actually a big thing but just small projects that would enhance safety and security at home.

9.)  Manage My Time More Effectively  -  Since I am now the one doing most of the household chores at home, I am now having some difficulty balancing my time between managing our home and blogging.  I would admit having fewer posts last year.  My earnings also decline by 60% in 2014 compared to my earnings in 2013.  This is probably because most sites were slapped by Mr. G, mine included. But it's not totally a bad year after all.  I just want to be back and focus in writing more posts for this year.

10.)  Learn To Forgive and Forget  -  Admittedly, I have so much emotional baggage kept in my heart and in order for me to move on and lead a happy life, I need to accept what cannot be changed and learn to focus in the future rather than the past.

That's it!  I'm finally done writing down the things I wish to do this year.  I'm not really sure if all of the things in the list will be done successfully, but at least I still have a goal and this will surely motivate me to work harder and with much enthusiasm.

My Favorite Video During My Daughter's Debut

As I have a son and daughter who were both video enthusiasts, it is expected that there were a number of videos presented during the entire duration of Mika's Debut celebration.  There was an intro video entitled Mika @ 18 which is actually a compilation of video clips showcasing her simple life as a teen aged girl , there was also a grand entrance video, an intro video to her 18 dances, an intro video to her 18 frames and an intro video for her 18 keepsakes.  She also had a thank you video which was shown prior to the debutant's message.  So you just could imagine how many videos were created just for that party (lol).

Anyway here are two of my favorites:

Mika's Debut Photo Shoot

Days before her much awaited debut, Mika went for a photo shoot with her kuya, our program coordinator and the one in charge of the videos and photos for her debut party.  They have chosen some nice spots inside the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.  Glad that there are lots of options to choose inside Subic and Boardwalk is certainly one of the favorite spots when it comes to photo shoots. Mika brought few pairs of clothes that she opted to use for the photo shoot.  I have just chosen the following photos out of the many photos she had which are few of my favorites.  Mika is certainly 18 but I guess she still looked like a baby to me.  There are times that when we go to cinemas, the attendant at the ticket counter will ask me if she is already 13 because the movie is R-13 (lol).  She would often "make face" whenever she hears this remarks. :)

These photos were taken around the boardwalk area:
